About Katie Townsend

I founded CoachEd for Schools and families having spent years working in schools and with families!

I started teaching in 1993 and completed my MA in Education Leadership in 2001.  I have worked in secondary schools across the UK; in London and Birmingham, Doncaster, Cardiff and the South East.  I have been a curriculum lead, a senior leader, an education consultant supporting schools through change and for twenty years, have coached teachers, school leaders and school support staff.  I have also worked in special education with children who have autism, ADHD, learning disabilities or social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

In 2018, I began studying for qualifications in therapy, so I could meet a wider need in my work with teachers and with families and young people.  At the same time, I volunteered as a family supporter for the charity Homestart.  The wonderful families I met inspired me to broaden my work to support both schools and families.  I trained in systemic therapy (working with teams, families, couples) gained a diploma in counselling and trained to advanced level in NVR (Non-violent Resistance) under supervision in the NHS.

Drawing on my long experience in education, voluntary work, therapy and mothering my own children, I founded CoachEd for Schools and Families.
